O Escritório Polonês de Concorrência e Proteção ao Consumidor (UOKiK) anunciou nesta quarta-feira (15) uma multa de mais de 120 milhões de zlotys (28,5 milhões de euros ou R$ 13 milhões) à subsidiária polonesa do grupo Volkswagen, no âmbito do escândalo do “dieselgate”.
“A Volkswagen manipulou indicadores de emissão de gás e enganou os consumidores”, afirmou o escritório em um comunicado divulgado em seu site.
“Este procedimento foi utilizado por oito anos (de 2008 a 2016). Durante a investigação, nunca houve propostas de uma solução amigável por parte do grupo “, disse o presidente da UOKiK, Marek Niechcial, citado no comunicado.
Em resposta a esta decisão, o grupo Volkswagen Polska declarou que “não via base legal para a sanção imposta pela UOKiK”.
Em 2015, o grupo Volkswagen, que também detém marcas como a Audi, reconheceu ter equipado mais de 11 milhões de carros com um programa de computador que fazia os veículos a diesel parecerem menos poluentes do que realmente eram, quando submetidos a testes.
Desde então, o “dieselgate” custou à Volks mais de 30 bilhões de euros (R$ 13 bilhões) em despesas legais, multas e indenizações, principalmente nos Estados Unidos. O caso também atingiu veículos no Brasil.
