Governos têm pedido por redução de consumo para que o continente seja menos dependente das importações de gás se houver escassez ligada à guerra na Ucrânia. A filial austríaca da rede multinacional de varejo SPAR Group está reduzindo as horas de iluminação para publicidade nas vitrines e na área externa de suas mais de 1.500 lojas em todo o país, disse um porta-voz por e-mail.
A medida reduzirá o consumo de energia da varejista em um milhão de quilowatts-hora por ano, disse o porta-voz, sem detalhar quanto dinheiro isso economizaria.
No mês passado, o chefe da Leclerc alertou que a maior varejista de alimentos da França poderia reduzir o horário de funcionamento de suas lojas para lidar com a falta de energia.
Pouco mais de uma semana antes, o operador de supermercados rival francês Carrefour assinou uma “Carta EcoWatt” com a operadora nacional de rede de energia RTE, reduzindo o consumo de eletricidade em suas lojas durante períodos de alta demanda.
Alguns varejistas, incluindo Colruyt e Ahold, podem ser parcialmente isolados de possíveis interrupções e custos mais altos devido aos programas de energia sustentável existentes que economizam energia.
“Nenhuma medida concreta está planejada no curto prazo, mas a firme ambição é continuar os esforços como parte de nossa política energética geral”, disse um porta-voz da belga Colruyt. “Por isso não temos letreiros luminosos, optamos por freezers fechados, câmara frigorífica etc.”
A empresa tem 44 lojas “zero combustível fóssil”, que não usam óleo combustível ou gás natural, mas são totalmente aquecidas por calor residual e eletricidade verde, disse o porta-voz.
A Ahold também está procurando maneiras de reduzir seu uso de energia, disse o presidente-executivo Frans Muller em entrevista.
