Cotações têm sido apoiadas por uma promessa da Arábia Saudita de reduzir sua produção em mais 1 milhão de barris por dia (bpd) em fevereiro e março. Os preços do petróleo atingiram máxima de 11 meses nesta quinta-feira (7), com o mercado mantendo o foco na inesperada promessa de cortes de bombeamento pela Arábia Saudita e nos movimentos de alta nos mercados acionários, deixando de lado as turbulências políticas nos Estados Unidos.
O petróleo Brent fechou em alta de 0,08 dólar, a US$ 54,38 por barril, após atingir a marca de US$ 54,90, nível que não era visto desde a imposição dos primeiros lockdowns relacionados à Covid-19 no ocidente.
Já o petróleo dos EUA (WTI) avançou 0,20 dólar, para US$ 50,83 o barril, depois de tocar uma máxima de US$ 51,28 na sessão.
Na quarta-feira, apoiadores do presidente norte-americano, Donald Trump, invadiram o Capitólio do país em protesto contra a validação da derrota de Trump na eleição presidencial, para Joe Biden. Os preços do petróleo chegaram a registrar firme queda durante a agitação.

Nesta semana, porém, as cotações da commodity têm sido apoiadas por uma promessa da Arábia Saudita, maior exportadora de petróleo do mundo, de reduzir sua produção em mais 1 milhão de barris por dia (bpd) em fevereiro e março.
“Até o mês que vem, este mercado de alta pode se restabelecer em níveis mais elevados, em função principalmente do benefício do inesperado corte voluntário de produção de 1 milhão de bpd pela Arábia Saudita”, disse Jim Ritterbusch, presidente da Ritterbusch and Associates em Galena, Illinois.
