Uma multidão de curiosos vem se reunindo em uma fazenda no interior de Bangladesh para conhecer Rani, uma vaca de 51 centímetros de altura que pode ser a menor do mundo.
Os juízes do livro dos recordes já avaliam se o animal adulto, que além da baixa altura tem 66 cm de comprimento é realmente um recordista mundial, como acreditam seus criadores.
“Ela come menos do que as outras vacas, nunca dá problema e é muito especial para mim”, disse o criador Mohammad Mamun em entrevista à agência de notícias Reuters.
Todo o processo do Guinness Book dura cerca de 90 dias, segundo os criadores. Por isso, o resultado das análises devem ser divulgados apenas na metade do segundo semestre.
Enquanto isso, ela se tornou uma baita atração turística (veja no vídeo acima).

Mesmo com todas as restrições impostas no país por conta da pandemia de Covid-19, as pessoas têm encontrado formas de furar os bloqueios para visitar o curioso animal.
Hasan Howlader, dono da fazenda, disse em entrevista à agência France Presse que os visitantes viajam longas distâncias só para ver a pequena Rani.
“As pessoas vêm de muito longe, apesar do confinamento”, disse Howlader. “Mais de 15 mil pessoas vieram ver Rani só nos últimos três dias.”
Rani pertence a uma espécie cuja carne é muito apreciada em Bangladesh, a zebu. As outras vacas da fazenda têm pelo menos o dobro de seu tamanho.
Segundo Sajedul Islam, veterinário do governo para a região, a altura de Rani é consequência da endogamia – quando há muitos cruzamentos dentro de uma mesma raça – e é pouco provável que cresça.
