O réptil de 45 anos estava sozinho em casa no dia de Natal quando esbarrou e derrubou em uma lâmpada de calor próximo de sua cama, em um quarto da residência.

Os bombeiros foram chamados por volta das 16h30 (horário local), depois que os vizinhos ouviram alarmes e encontraram fumaça saindo da casa.
O gerente dos bombeiros, Gary Wain, disse que o jabuti “agora espera continuar a viver uma vida longa e feliz”.
“Isso mostra o quanto é importante ter alarmes de fumaça em todos os andares da sua casa”, afirmou.
“Mesmo se você não estiver em casa, eles vão alertar qualquer pessoa que esteja perto ao primeiro sinal de incêndio”, disse Wain.
“Esse jabuti teve um Natal de muita sorte — ele tem 45 anos e continuará a viver uma vida longa e feliz, graças aos alarmes de fumaça”.
Depois dos bombeiros chegarem ao local, o fogo foi extinto e a casa ficou sem fumaça em 25 minutos. Ninguém se feriu.
Um post no Facebook dos bombeiros da cidade afirmou: “Esse jabuti de 45 anos pode parecer zangado, mas é seu dia de sorte. Nossas equipes de plantão deixaram suas famílias para apagar o fogo e deram a ele um feliz Natal”.
