Um homem de 59 anos foi preso nesta quarta-feira (16) ao ser flagrado com 13 peles e couros de animais silvestres, além de 12 crânios de onças em um sítio na Vila Nova Samuel, Zona Rural de Candeias do Jamari (RO). Três espingardas e uma armadilha usada para caçar também foram encontradas e apreendidas.
Segundo o boletim de ocorrência, o 5º Batalhão da Polícia Militar (BPM) recebeu inicialmente uma denúncia de que armas e munições estavam sendo comercializadas na área. Com isso, uma guarnição foi ao sítio indicado verificar a situação.
Já no local, os policiais se depararam com duas espingardas com permissão de uso, uma outra de pressão, uma arma calibre .32, além de vários cartuchos intactos.
Doze crânios de onças também foram encontrados no mesmo sítio em Candeias do Jamari.

A guarnição também encontrou 13 couros e peles, possivelmente das onças pintada, parda, preta e do gato-maracajá, além de 12 crânios de onças.
O homem disse aos policiais que ganhou as peles de amigos e que o armamento seria para proteger a família. Após a abordagem, ele foi levado preso à Central de Flagrantes de Porto Velho, onde permanece à disposição da Justiça. Ele deve responder por crime ambiental e posse ilegal de arma de fogo.
A caça é considerada crime pelo artigo 29 da Lei de Crimes Ambientais (Lei 9.605/98) que prevê matar, perseguir, caçar, apanhar, utilizar espécies da fauna silvestre, nativos ou em rota migratória sem a devida permissão, licença ou autorização da autoridade competente.
