O Congresso dos Estados Unidos pediu nesta sexta-feira (27) que empresas como Facebook, Google e Twitter compartilhem registros que possam contribuir com a investigação sobre a invasão ao Capitólio por apoiadores do ex-presidente americano Donald Trump, em 6 de janeiro.
A comissão parlamentar que apura o caso também pediu informações para as redes sociais YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Gab e Parler, bem como os aplicativos de mensagens Telegram e Zello.
As autoridades também solicitaram registros dos fóruns anônimos 4chan e 8kun (antigo 8chan) e do site theDonald.win, criado após um grupo de apoiadores de Trump ser penalizado pelo Reddit.

O Comitê Selecionado da Câmara dos Deputados dos EUA quer obter registros sobre a invasão e ações nos dias que a antecederam, incluindo a disseminação de desinformação e esforços para impedir a certificação da eleição do presidente Joe Biden.
A agência Reuters informou que Facebook, Snapchat, Google e Reddit confirmaram ter recebido o pedido e se comprometeram a trabalhar com o comitê.
A rede social Gab, similar ao Twitter, afirmou em comunicado que recebeu uma carta do comitê e afirmou ter removido contas “que procuravam espalhar divisão e medo” antes da posse.
O Twitter se recusou a comentar, e TikTok e Parler não responderam imediatamente às solicitações da Reuters. As outras empresas não foram encontradas para comentários imediatos.
A comissão busca registros desde 2020, incluindo eventuais mudanças de política realizadas pelas plataformas para combater informações falsas, extremismo violento e influências estrangeiras na eleição presidencial americana.
