Pelo segundo dia consecutivo, o setor de tecnologia exerceu a maior pressão negativa sobre os três principais índices acionários dos Estados Unidos. Intel Corp liderou o declínio, com suas ações despencando 16,2%, depois que a fabricante de chips informou um atraso na produção de um chip menor e mais rápido de 7 nanômetros.
O índice Dow Jones caiu 0,68%, para 26.469,89 pontos, o S&P 500 perdeu 0,62%, para 3.215,63 pontos, e o Nasdaq recuou 0,94%, para 10.363,18 pontos.
“Há um nervosismo antes do fim de semana após a intensificação da liquidação no setor de tecnologia”, disse Ryan Detrick, estrategista sênior de mercado da LPL Financial em Charlotte, Carolina do Norte.
Cada índice registrou perda semanal, com o S&P 500 e o Dow Jones interrompendo três semanas consecutivas de altas. O Nasdaq teve a semana mais fraca das últimas quatro.
