O TikTok fez um novo pedido à Justiça dos Estados Unidos nesta quarta-feira (22) para evitar que os downloads do aplicativo de vídeo sejam proibidos no país a partir do próximo domingo (27).
O pedido foi realizado a um juiz federal em Washington, solicitando bloqueio de um decreto do governo Donald Trump que exige que Apple e Google removam o TikTok de suas lojas de aplicativos, de acordo com a agência Reuters.
A restrição aos downloads do aplicativo deveriam ter começado na madrugada entre o último domingo (20) e segunda-feira.
Porém, a ByteDance, empresa chinesa que desenvolve o TikTok, anunciou um acordo com as americanas Oracle e Walmart para a criação de uma nova empresa que controlaria o aplicativo.
Trump deu um aceno positivo para o acordo, e o Departamento do Comércio dos EUA ampliou em uma semana as restrições de downloads do TikTok no país, citando “desenvolvimentos positivos recentes” nas negociações sobre o destino de suas operações nos EUA.

Um juiz federal em San Francisco emitiu no sábado (19) uma liminar bloqueando um decreto semelhante do Departamento de Comércio que barrava os downloads e o funcionamento do aplicativo WeChat, da Tencent.
O TikTok já tinha movido um processo durante o final de semana para suspender as restrições iniciais, mas a ação não continuou após os novos prazos.
