A tempestade Elsa se aproxima da costa oeste da Flórida, nos Estados Unidos, nesta terça-feira (6) com ventos de até 95km/h, segundo o serviço meteorológico americano.
O fenômeno vem perdendo força depois de sua passagem por Cuba, na segunda-feira (5), de onde partiu sem registrar maiores danos.
Como são escolhidos os nomes de furacões e tempestades?
No entanto, a tempestade já havia deixado um rastro de destruição em várias ilhas do Caribe, com ao menos três mortes – uma na ilha de Santa Lúcia e duas na República Dominicana.

Autoridades cubanas chegaram a retirar 180 mil pessoas de casa por precaução, devido à possibilidade de fortes inundações, e emitiram alertas de furacão.
O Centro Nacional de Furacões dos EUA (NHC, na sigla em inglês) prevê que o fenômeno toque o solo durante a tarde desta terça.

No domingo à noite, as autoridades demoliram a parte que ainda restava do prédio residencial que desabou parcialmente há quase duas semanas, por medo de que Elsa derrubasse a estrutura.
A prefeita do condado de Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine, afirmou à imprensa que os socorristas estavam “muito esperançosos” de que não teriam que interromper as tarefas de busca por sobreviventes.
