Ministro afirma que estados já relatam falta do soro, usado para neutralizar o veneno de cobra. Brasil tem 28 mil ataques de serpentes por ano. O Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) aprovou nesta quarta-feira (23) a abertura de um processo para apurar eventuais falhas na fabricação e distribuição de soro antiofídico. O soro é aplicado em casos de ataque de cobra venenosa.
Segundo o ministro Vital do Rego, desde 2016 as secretarias estaduais de Saúde têm emitido alerta sobre a redução dos estoques de soro antiofídico. Os gestores locais identificam, nesses relatórios, o risco de escassez do material.

“Já se tem notícias de pessoas que foram a óbito em razão da ausência do soro”, diz o ministro do TCU.
Vital do Rêgo destacou que dados do Ministério da Saúde mostram que há, em média, 28 mil ataques de serpente por ano. Dessas vítimas, 100 morrem.
De acordo com o voto lido nesta quarta, o Ministério da Saúde faz compras mensais de soro dos laboratórios responsáveis pela produção, e cabe ao governo federal repassar esse material aos estados. Desde 1986, toda a produção de antivenenos dos quatro laboratórios nacionais é adquirida pelo Ministério da Saúde.
Caso recente
No início do mês, o funcionário de uma fazenda em Mato Grosso morreu após ser atacado por uma jararaca. A cidade onde o homem foi picado não tinha o soro, e a vítima precisou ser transferida para Cuiabá para receber o medicamento.
Na época, o Ministério da Saúde informou que, por causa da deficiência da produção dos soros, o órgão que é responsável pela distribuição do medicamento tem distribuído quantidades restritas do material. O repasse é feito de acordo com as ocorrências e o local de tratamento dos pacientes.
