A empresa especializada em robótica Boston Dynamics divulgou nesta terça-feira (17) um vídeo com seus robôs fazendo parkour. Em um certo momento, as duas máquinas dão mortais para trás.
O modelo Atlas tem 1,52 metros de altura e pesa cerca de 86 kg. Não é a primeira vez que os robôs da companhia se aventuram na modalidade, mas este novo desafio mostra como as máquinas estão em evolução.
Eles usam sistemas hidráulicos e motores elétricos alimentados por bateria para se mover e têm três computadores de bordo.
“Parkour é uma atividade de organização útil para nossa equipe porque destaca vários desafios que acreditamos ser importantes”, disse Scott Kuindersma, líder da equipe Atlas.

A rotina de parkour apresentada pelos robôs não é aleatória, é uma “coreografia” comandada por computador. No entanto, o Atlas usa tecnologia para se adaptar às circunstâncias e aprender a manter o equilíbrio, caso algo saia do esperado.
No vídeo (veja no início da reportagem), um dos robôs perde um pouco a estabilidade aos 38 segundos, para em seguida continuar a apresentação.
Empresa já foi do Google
Quando foi criada, a Boston Dynamics era focada na criação de robôs para a área militar. Especializada em robótica, a empresa foi comprada em 2013 pelo Google, que a vendeu à japonesa Softbank em junho de 2017. A companhia asiática também desenvolve o amigável robô Pepper.
