O Reino Unido impôs uma quarentena obrigatória, nesta quinta-feira (13), para aqueles que chegam ao território britânico a partir da França e da Holanda, após um aumento dos casos de Covid-19 nesses dois países. Outros estados, inclusive dois na Europa e dois no Caribe, também entraram na lista.
“Os dados nos mostram que devemos incluir França, Holanda, Mônaco, Malta, Turks e Caicos e Aruba em nossa lista”, informou o ministro britânico dos Transportes, Grant Shapps, em sua conta no Twitter.
“Se você chegar ao Reino Unido após as 3h de sábado (0h, em Brasília), terá que se manter em isolamento por 14 dias”, acrescentou.

A medida pode afetar um grande número de britânicos, cerca de 500 mil, que costumam viajar para a França durante o verão. Londres havia, inicialmente, imposto a quarentena de duas semanas a todos vindos do exterior para o solo britânico, mas, depois, reduziu estas restrições, especialmente para seus vizinhos europeus.
Porém, no fim de julho, decidiu restabelecer a quarentena obrigatória para todos os que chegam da Espanha, medida que surpreendeu tanto as companhias aéreas quanto as agências de viagens. Autoridades britânicas também impuseram este isolamento na semana passada a todos os viajantes de Bélgica, Andorra e Bahamas.
Com cerca de 41 mil mortos, o Reino Unido é o país europeu com o maior número de mortes causadas pela pandemia.
