A produção de carne suína da China recuou pelo sétimo trimestre consecutivo no período de abril a junho, ainda prejudicada pelos efeitos da peste suína africana, que dizimou as criações do maior produtor de porcos do mundo.

No segundo trimestre de 2020, a produção de carne suína do país asiático teve queda de 4,7% ante igual período do ano anterior, atingindo 9,6 milhões de toneladas, segundo cálculos da Reuters com base em dados divulgados nesta quinta-feira pelo Departamento Nacional de Estatísticas chinês, que indicaram um recuo de 19,1% nos seis primeiros meses do ano.
Embora a cifra represente algum progresso em relação à queda de quase um terço verificada no quarto trimestre de 2019, os números semestrais voltam a ressaltar a enorme tarefa que a China ainda enfrenta para recuperar suas criações após a peste suína africana varrer o país desde o fim de 2018 — alguns analistas acreditam que o rebanho encolheu em até 60%.
A China abateu 251,03 milhões de porcos nos seis primeiros meses deste ano, segundo o Departamento Nacional de Estatísticas — uma queda de 20% na comparação com o mesmo período do ano passado.
O rebanho do país, por sua vez, teve diminuição de 2,2% no ano a ano, para 339,96 milhões de cabeças ao final de junho, embora haja um aumento ante os 321,2 milhões de animais contabilizados ao final de março.
A produção chinesa de carne suína deve recuar 20% neste ano, de acordo com analistas do Rabobank, depois de despencar para uma mínima de 16 anos em 2019, quando somou 42,6 milhões de toneladas.
No entanto, a produção deve se recuperar com o tempo, uma vez que a criação de matrizes tem avançado. O departamento de estatísticas disse que as matrizes de suínos no país eram 36,29 milhões ao final de junho, alta de 5,4% na comparação anual e de 7,3% em relação a março.
No primeiro semestre, a produção de carnes da China — incluindo suínos, bovinos, ovinos e aves — somou 34,89 milhões de toneladas, queda de 11% ano a ano.
