O príncipe Harry é o mais novo contratado de uma startup do Vale do Silício, nos Estados Unidos. Ele atuará como diretor de impacto, de acordo com o jornal americano “The Wall Street Journal”.
Harry vai trabalhar na BetterUp Inc., empresa especializada em treinamentos e saúde mental.
“Pretendo ajudar a criar impacto na vida das pessoas”, disse o príncipe Harry à publicação.
Ele disse ter aceitado a proposta porque “o ‘coaching’ proativo oferece possibilidades infinitas para o desenvolvimento pessoal, maior consciência e uma vida melhor em todos os aspectos”.
Em seu novo emprego, Harry deve ajudar em decisões sobre estratégias de produtos e ações e defender publicamente assuntos relacionados à saúde mental.
O príncipe e sua esposa Meghan Markle mudaram-se para a Califórnia em março de 2020, após terem deixado suas funções na monarquia.
Em uma entrevista para a apresentadora Oprah Winfrey, exibida no início de março, eles fizeram uma denúncia de racismo: um dos membros da família real, que não foi identificado, teria perguntado a Harry qual seria o tom da pele de seu filho com Meghan.
O casal também reclamou da pressão dos tabloides britânicos e da falta de compreensão da família real sobre sua situação.
Saúde mental e a história de Harry
Saúde mental não é um tema novo para Harry. Em 2017, junto com seu irmão William e Kate Middleton, lançou o Heads Together, uma estrutura destinada a arrecadar fundos e apoiar projetos relativos às doenças mentais, lutando ao mesmo tempo contra a estigmatização das pessoas afetadas.
Nesse mesmo ano, Harry reconheceu ter passado por um período de “caos total”, ao se aproximar dos 30 anos, que o levou a pedir ajuda psicológica para superar o trauma da morte de sua mãe, a princesa Diana. Ela morreu em 1997 em um acidente de trânsito em Paris.
Em 2019, o príncipe e Oprah Winfrey também anunciaram que estavam trabalhando em conjunto na criação de uma série documental sobre saúde mental.
