O presidente-executivo do Twitter, Jack Dorsey, vendeu nesta segunda-feira (22) seu primeiro tuíte por pouco mais de US$ 2,9 milhões (R$ 15,9 milhões, na cotação atual) como NFT.
O post está em formato de token não fungível (NFT, na sigla em inglês) — uma espécie de ativo digital único que explodiu em popularidade em 2021.

Cada NFT possui sua própria assinatura digital baseada em blockchain, que funciona como um registro público, permitindo a qualquer um verificar a autenticidade e propriedade do ativo.
O tuíte — “estou criando minha conta Twttr” – foi o primeiro publicado por Dorsey, em 21 de março de 2006.
Lançado ao público somente em 15 de julho de 2006, a rede social ainda viria a mudar de nome cerca de seis meses depois, adotando a grafia que conhecemos hoje: Twitter.

O NFT foi vendido via leilão em uma plataforma chamada Valuables, controlada pela empresa norte-americana Cent.
Ele foi adquirido por meio da criptomoeda Ether por 1.630,5825601 ETH, quantia que no momento da venda era avaliada em US$ 2.915.835,47, confirmou o CEO e cofundador da Cent, Cameron Hejazi.
A Cent confirmou que o comprador é Sina Estavi. O perfil de Estavi no Twitter, @sinaEstavi, diz que ele é da Malásia e atua como CEO da companhia de blockchain Bridge Oracle.
Estavi disse à Reuters, quando questionado sobre a aquisição, que está “agradecido”.
Dorsey, um entusiasta do bitcoin, publicou em 6 de março um link para o website no qual o NFT foi listado para venda.
Em um tuíte de 9 de março, ele disse que converteria em bitcoin todo o lucro obtido com o leilão, que então seria doado a pessoas afetadas pela Covid-19 na África.
Dorsey recebe 95% do valor da transação, enquanto a Cent fica com 5%.
