Você, claro, já esbarrou em notícias sobre bitcoin. Lançada em 2009, a primeira e mais importante moeda digital despertou um aumento de 143% nas buscas na internet só no ano passado.
Mas por que cresce o interesse em bitcoin no Brasil e no mundo?
Bom, o primeiro motivo do interesse é a valorização impressionante. No fim de março de 2020, um bitcoin valia R$ 31,9 mil. Exatamente um ano depois, ele ultrapassou R$ 321,7 mil – o que representa um aumento de mais de 900%.
Esse crescimento na cotação chamou a atenção desde pequenos investidores pessoas físicas até grandes fundos de investimento. E foi justamente o interesse de fundos e de grandes empresas na criptomoeda que ajudou a solidificar o bitcoin com uma moeda digital global que pode ser usada como reserva de valor de patrimônio, o que durante muito tempo foi exclusividade do ouro. Companhias americanas chegaram a aportar dinheiro do caixa na criptomoeda.
Além de comprar e vender, como já ocorre atualmente, qualquer pessoa ou empresa poderá, a partir da metade de 2021, investir na moeda digital pela Bolsa de Valores. Essa operação poderá ser realizada por meio de um ETF, também chamado de fundo de índice.
Em bolsas internacionais esse tipo de fundo já é bastante requisitado. Ou seja, todo esse movimento vem dando mais credibilidade à criptomoeda.
Moeda descentralizada
Mas por que o bitcoin também gera o interesse de grandes empresas e fundos de investimento? A consolidação como reserva de valor com grandes possibilidades de valorização pode ser explicada pela própria natureza da criptomoeda.
O bitcoin é uma moeda totalmente digital 100% descentralizada, ou seja, não é emitida por um banco central. A própria rede e seus participantes garante o funcionamento da criptomoeda. Qualquer transação fica guardada em um banco de dados descentralizado conhecido como blockchain. Todas as negociações são públicas (claro, sem o nome do proprietário do bitcoin) e podem ser conferidas por outros usuários.
Apesar de não sofrer interferência de governos em seu funcionamento ou emissão, o bitcoin é, sim, permitido no Brasil. A Receita Federal, inclusive, criou um campo na declaração do Imposto de Renda para informar investimentos na criptomoeda. Hoje, o jeito mais fácil de comprar e vender bitcoin é em corretoras, como a Mercado Bitcoin, a maior em volume de negociação da América Latina.
Outro ponto positivo é o aumento da aceitação do bitcoin como forma de pagamento, embora ele seja mais usado como reserva. As pessoas podem comprar até carro com a moeda digital. Milhares de estabelecimentos no Brasil e em outros países do mundo aceitam bitcoin na venda de produtos ou serviços.
