A Polícia Militar Ambiental resgatou nesta quinta-feira (20) três aves da fauna silvestre nativa que eram mantidas irregularmente em cativeiro em uma residência em Osvaldo Cruz (SP).
Os policiais compareceram ao local após uma denúncia e tiveram autorização do morador, um homem de 62 anos, para uma vistoria no imóvel.
Durante a fiscalização, os militares encontraram três canários-da-terra em duas gaiolas.
O morador, segundo a polícia, confessou que não possuía autorização para manter as aves em cativeiro e recebeu um auto de infração ambiental com multa no valor de R$ 1,5 mil.
Como apresentavam sinais de captura recente e estado bravio, os pássaros resgatados foram soltos novamente na natureza.
Ainda segundo a polícia, o morador vai responder também pelo crime contra a fauna previsto no artigo 29 da lei federal nº 9.605/98.

Canto forte e estalado
O canário-da-terra (Sicalis flaveola) é uma espécie predominantemente granívora, correndo no solo à procura de sementes.
Em sua reprodução, frequentemente utiliza ninhos abandonados de outros pássaros, sobretudo do joão-de-barro (Furnarius rufus), e instala-se também entre plantas epífitas e em buracos, fazendo uma cestinha confortável nesses espaços. Os ovos são bem manchados, de três a quatro por postura, com um período de incubação de 13 dias.
O canário-da-terra mede até 13,5 centímetros. É colorido amarelo-olivácea com estrias enegrecidas nas costas e em cima da cabeça um colorido alaranjado. A íris é negra e o bico tem a parte superior com cor de chifre e a inferior é amarelada. Já a fêmea e o juvenil têm a parte superior do corpo olivácea com estriação parda por baixo.
É conhecido também como canário-da-horta, canário-da-telha, canário-do-chão, corinha e chapinha. Este passarinho é muito admirado pelo canto forte e estalado. O macho tem um canto de madrugada territorial extenso, áspero, fraseado, bem diferente do canto diurno. Empoleira para cantar.
Vive em grupos, mas durante a reprodução fica estritamente em casais. A sua captura é indiscriminada para venda a apreciadores de pássaros canoros, com canto melodioso.
