A plataforma de criptomoeda Poly Network disse na última segunda-feira (23) que quase todos os US$ 610 milhões (R$ 3,2 bilhões) roubados este mês, em um dos maiores roubos de critpomoedas, foram devolvidos pela pessoa ou pelas pessoas por trás do ataque.
Em uma publicação no Twitter, a Poly Network afirmou que havia recuperado o controle de todos os ativos, exceto US$ 33 milhões da moeda estável Tether que haviam sido congelados pela empresa que a administra. A rede disse que estava conversando com a Tether para liberar esses fundos.
Os hackers haviam dito anteriormente que realizaram o ataque por diversão para expor a vulnerabilidade dos contratos digitais da plataforma e que sempre planejaram devolver os tokens.
Alguns analistas de blockchain especularam que eles simplesmente podem ter achado difícil demais lavar tanta criptomoeda roubada.
Foram roubados cerca de US$ 267 milhões em ethereum, US$ 252 milhões em binance coin e cerca de US$ 85 milhões em USDC. As três criptomoedas são populares.
Um nome menos conhecido no mundo da criptomoeda, a Poly Network é uma plataforma de finanças descentralizada (DeFi) que facilita transação peer-to-peer (pessoa para pessoa) com foco em permitir que os usuários transfiram ou troquem os tokens em diferentes blockchains.
A Poly Network anunciou o roubo em 10 de agosto, mas afirmou que os responsáveis haviam começado a devolver as moedas digitais no dia seguinte.
