Os preços do petróleo fecharam em alta nesta quarta-feira (23) após um início de semana difícil, aproveitando especialmente a redução das reservas americanas de cru e dos produtos petrolíferos.
Em Londres, o barril de Brent do Mar do Norte para entrega em fevereiro fechou em alta de 2,24% ou 1,12 dólares, a US$ 51,20. O barril americano de WTI para fevereiro subiu 2,34%, ou um dólar, a US$ 48,12.

No encerramento das duas últimas sessões, os contratos de referência haviam perdido parte dos importantes lucros registrados desde o começo de novembro, com os quais tinha conseguido subir aos níveis anteriores à pandemia.
As reservas americanas de petróleo cru, de gasolina e de produtos destilados recuaram na semana passada nos Estados Unidos, segundo um relatório da Agência Americana de Informação sobre Energia (EIA), divulgado nesta quarta.

Estes dados deram uma dose de otimismo aos investidores, que esperam uma recuperação do consumo no ano que vem, após ter sofrido um freio em 2020, devido à pandemia e à limitação dos deslocamentos.
“Nossos indicadores nos Estados Unidos começam a mostrar uma atividade mais robusta”, explicou Bjornar Tonhaugen, da Rystad Energy. “Como já informamos aos nossos clientes, o petróleo de xisto é um monstro que pode desacelerar, mas que pode se matar”.
“Além disso, pode se esperar um ar novo na cena geopolítica no próximo ano”, avaliou o especialista.
O novo governo americano, que deve assumir as funções no fim de janeiro, poderia adotar um tom mais conciliador com o Irã e aliviar suas sanções econômicas, o que permitiria a Teerã vender mais barris no mercado internacional.
