Proliferação do coronavírus pode prejudicar a demanda pela commodity; desde 20 de janeiro, o Brent acumula perdas de 9,01% e o WTI cede 9,61% Os contratos futuros do petróleo recuaram nesta segunda-feira (27) pela quinta sessão consecutiva, ainda pressionados pelos receios sobre a proliferação do coronavírus, que pode prejudicar a demanda pela commodity.
O contrato do Brent para março fechou em queda de 2,25%, a US$ 59,32 por barril, na ICE, em Londres, enquanto que o contrato do WTI para o mesmo mês recuou 1,93%, a US$ 53,14 o barril, na Bolsa de Mercadorias de Nova York (Nymex).

Desde o dia 20 de janeiro, o Brent acumula perdas de 9,01%, enquanto o WTI cede 9,61%.
O petróleo tem sido castigado pelas notícias sobre o coronavírus e voltou a cair depois que o governo chinês confirmou que o número de mortes causadas pelo coronavírus subiu para 82.
A China consome cerca de 13,5 milhões de barris de petróleo por dia, ou cerca de 10 milhões a mais do que produz, de acordo com dados da BP. O país é o maior importador líquido da commodity, e o receio é que o surto do coronavírus desequilibre o mercado do lado da demanda.
Segundo o “Wall Street Journal”, os ministros da Organização dos Países Exportadores de Petróleo (Opep) já estão, inclusive, discutindo como responder aos efeitos da epidemia e consideram aprofundar os cortes de produção até o fim de 2020. Os preços do petróleo operavam em queda ainda mais acentuada no começo do dia e devolveram parte das perdas com a notícia.
