Alta do desmatamento no governo Bolsonaro vem provocando críticas internacionais ao Brasil. Vice-presidente atribui problemas na Amazônia a abandono de projeto da ditadura. O vice-presidente da República, Hamilton Mourão, afirmou nesta terça-feira (18) que o Brasil “não suporta mais ser enxovalhado e rotulado de vilão ambiental” em razão de “erros cometidos no passado na ocupação da Amazônia”.
Presidente do Conselho Nacional da Amazônia Legal, Mourão participou da abertura de um simpósio sobre a floresta, organizado pelo Instituto Federalista, pela Instituto Sagres e pela Frente Parlamentar pela Amazônia.
O governo do presidente Jair Bolsonaro é alvo de críticas de ambientalistas, líderes estrangeiros e organização não-governamentais (ONG) por causa da alta no desmatamento e de ações que dificultam a fiscalização e punição de crimes ambientais.
No mês passado, durante a Cúpula de Líderes sobre o Clima, Bolsonaro reforçou o compromisso de zerar o desmatamento ilegal até 2030 e prometeu duplicar reforços para fiscalização, o que ainda não foi feito.
“O país não suporta mais ser enxovalhado e rotulado de vilão ambiental por conta de erros cometidos no passado na ocupação da Amazônia, habilmente orquestrados por grupos políticos e econômicos a quem convém manter o Brasil acossado, na defensiva, tentando justificar suas ações na região, como se fôssemos maus inquilinos da propriedade alheia”, disse Mourão.

Nos últimos meses, os números sobre desmatamento voltaram a subir. A área sob alerta de desmatamento na Amazônia Legal em abril foi a maior para o mês desde 2016: 581km² até o dia 29, segundo medição do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (Inpe).
Já monitoramento extraoficial feito pelo Instituto do Homem e Meio Ambiente da Amazônia (Imazon) registra que o desmatamento da Amazônia em abril atingiu 778 km², o maior valor para um mês de abril registrado nos últimos dez anos.
Discurso
Mourão reafirmou no discurso desta terça a intenção de proteger, preservar e desenvolver de forma sustentável a Amazônia, com ações além da repressão aos crimes ambientais. O vice voltou a defender a regularização fundiária da região.
Para ele, a ocupação ilegal de terras na Amazônia é fruto do abandono do projeto de integração feito na ditadura, já que assentamentos, estabelecidos próximos de rodovias abertas pelo governo federal, foram deixados “à própria sorte e à mercê de grileiros, posseiros e grandes latifundiários, gerando assim uma ocupação predatória da região”.
