Várias estações de metrô ficaram inundadas em Nova York, nos Estados Unidos, e grandes vias tiveram de ser bloqueadas na véspera da chegada da tempestade Elsa, que ameaça provocar novas inundações nesta sexta-feira (9).
Entre 50 e 100 milímetros de água caíram durante uma série de tempestades sobre Nova York e região na tarde de quinta-feira (8), segundo o serviço meteorológico dos Estados Unidos (NWS, na sigla em inglês).
Passageiros do metrô publicaram vídeos nas redes sociais de estações inundadas (veja no vídeo acima). Em um deles, pessoas estavam com água até a cintura tentando chegar às plataformas.

Sarah Feinberg, chefe interina do MTA (autoridade de transporte público de Nova York), admitiu em entrevista coletiva na noite de quinta que as linhas 1 e A registraram “muitas inundações nas estações”.
Algumas importantes vias — principalmente no Bronx — foram temporariamente fechadas, o que causou problemas de tráfego no horário de saída do trabalho.
