Um quilo de tomate, oito pãezinhos, um refrigerante de 250 ml ou uma barra de sabão de baixa qualidade podem custar cerca de 1 milhão de bolívares. A partir desta segunda-feira (8), as cédulas de 200.000, 500.000 e 1 milhão de bolívares venezuelanos começarão gradativamente a circular. Essas três novas notas não somam o equivalente a US$ 1 pelo câmbio oficial. A de um milhão, por exemplo, vale 0,50 centavos de dólar.

“O problema em um ciclo hiperinflacionário é que a velocidade com que o Banco Central atualiza o cone monetário é muito mais lenta”, disse o economista Asdrúbal Oliveros.
“O Banco Central [da Venezuela] acaba de lançar uma cédula que terá o valor mais alto que não chega a 65 centavos de dólar. Mesmo com essas novas cédulas é possível que não se consiga realmente otimizar o sistema de pagamentos”, observa.
Bolívar substituído pelo dólar no país
O dinheiro em bolívares também é muito escasso e os usuários fazem longas filas nos bancos para acessar, no máximo, 400.000 bolívares, o limite para o saque.
O bolívar acabou sendo substituído pelo dólar, que se tornou a moeda de fato na Venezuela.
É comum que os preços de qualquer comércio venezuelano sejam transformados em dólares e os pagamentos sejam feitos em moeda estrangeira. O pagamento em moeda local normalmente é feito por cartão de débito ou transferência bancária.
O presidente venezuelano, Nicolás Maduro, tem promovido a “digitalização total” dos pagamentos na Venezuela, incluindo o transporte público, atualmente o único setor onde prevalece o bolívar em dinheiro.
“Para isso, eles precisam ter um sistema tecnológico e logístico otimizado com o transporte que não têm, por isso retiram essas passagens para tentar amenizar um pouco o problema”, disse Oliveros.
O cone monetário foi estendido pela última vez em junho de 2019.
