Itamaraty Hosts Diplomatic Briefing on G20 Summit Preparations in Rio de Janeiro

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) hosted a high-level briefing this week at the Rio Branco Institute to coordinate final details for the upcoming G20 Leaders' Summit. The session, attended by representatives from the international diplomatic corps stationed in Brasília, focused on the logistical infrastructure, security perimeters, and the official agenda scheduled for the global event in Rio de Janeiro. Foreign ministry officials highlighted the importance of seamless cooperation between host services and foreign delegations.

During the presentation, the Brazilian government detailed the specific protocols for the arrival of Heads of State at Galeão Air Base and the transportation corridors established to ensure urban mobility during the summit. Itamaraty emphasized that the integration between federal and local forces is at an advanced stage, aiming to provide a secure environment for discussions on global governance, energy transition, and social inclusion.

In addition to security, the briefing addressed the 'Social G20' initiatives, which seek to include civil society perspectives in the final declarations. Diplomatic representatives were briefed on the accreditation process for international media and the specific venues for bilateral meetings within the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) complex. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating high-level dialogue among the world's largest economies.

As the summit date approaches, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains the primary point of contact for foreign embassies regarding ceremonial requirements and diplomatic immunity issues. This meeting marks one of the final collective technical alignments before the arrival of the ministerial delegations, ensuring that Brasília and Rio de Janeiro are fully synchronized for the event.
