País reabriu em 3 de junho suas fronteiras aos turistas estrangeiros da União Europeia e do espaço Schengen. O setor de turismo na Itália prevê neste verão uma queda vertiginosa do número de visitantes e de sua renda, que atingirão seus piores níveis em duas décadas.
A Itália prevê uma redução de 56 milhões de noites de acomodação neste verão boreal, segundo uma pesquisa do Centro de Estudos Turísticos (CTS) de Florença, realizada com 2.100 empresas do setor. Isso resultará em 3,2 bilhões de euros (US$ 3,6 bilhões) a menos em receita, 48% dos quais afetarão o setor hoteleiro.
“Era de se esperar uma queda, mas se continuar assim, será a pior queda da história de nosso turismo”, alertou Vittorio Messina, presidente do sindicato de empresários de turismo Assoturismo. “Precisamos fazer um projeto para relançar o setor, que representa 13% do Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) e é nosso cartão de visita no exterior”, afirmou.

Consequência da pandemia e do confinamento, a Itália registrou um grande déficit comercial em abril, devido à queda nas exportações de veículos e máquinas, anunciou nesta quinta o Instituto Nacional de Estatísticas (Istat).
O déficit comercial atingiu os 1,15 bilhão de euros (quase US$ 1,3 bilhão) em comparação com um excedente de 2,85 bilhões de euros em abril de 2019, ou seja, uma redução de 4 bilhões de euros (US$ 4,5 bilhões).
