O idealizador do laboratório de economia regenerativa de Fernando de Noronha (Lab Noronha), Sérgio Xavier, foi nomeado coordenador-executivo do Fórum Brasileiro de Mudança do Clima.
O ato de nomeação foi assinado pelo presidente da República, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), e publicado no Diário Oficial da União, nesta quarta-feira (5).

Sérgio Xavier, que já foi secretário estadual de Meio Ambiente entre 2011 e 2017, é jornalista, ativista socioambiental, desenvolvedor de projetos de baixo carbono.
O Lab Noronha é um laboratório que incentiva a economia circular. Na sexta-feira (30), promoveu na ilha um encontro que discutiu ações para redução do plástico nos oceanos.
O novo coordenador-executivo do Fórum do Clima explicou que, entre as atribuições da nova função, o pronto principal é discutir soluções para os problemas das questões climáticas. Noronha deve ganhar protagonismo nesse trabalho.
“Nós vamos discutir a questão econômica, e uma das bases do fórum vai ser em Fernando de Noronha. A ideia é fazer na ilha um centro internacional de debates das questões ambientais”, declarou Xavier.
Sérgio Xavier falou, ainda, que o Fórum do Clima deve discutir os problemas por regiões do país para integração das políticas públicas.
O coordenador disse que planeja uma visita à ilha da ministra do Meio Ambiente, Marina Silva, programada, inicialmente, para a inauguração do Lab Noronha, que deve acontecer no mês de outubro.
