Milhares de pacientes de psicoterapia na Finlândia sofreram extorsão de hackers que, após terem roubado arquivos confidenciais, exigiram que pagassem 200 euros em bitcoins para não divulgar na internet as conversas que mantêm com seus respectivos terapeutas.
Pacientes angustiados recorreram em massa aos serviços de assistência no fim de semana, quando a polícia finlandesa revelou que hackers haviam acessado os arquivos da empresa privada Vastaamo, que administra 25 centros de terapia em todo o país.
Milhares de pessoas apresentaram denúncias, disse a polícia. Muitos pacientes relataram ter recebido e-mails exigindo 200 euros (R$ 1,3 mil, aproximadamente) em bitcoins para evitar que o conteúdo de suas sessões com terapeutas fosse publicado.
Governo pede que pacientes continuem tratamento
Diante do que qualificou de “violação gravíssima”, a Ministra do Interior, Maria Ohisalo, pediu à população nesta segunda-feira (26) que não deixe de recorrer aos serviços de saúde mental neste país de 5,5 milhões de habitantes, um dos mais afetados na Europa por questões psicológicas.
De acordo com dados da OCDE, cerca de um em cada cinco finlandeses sofre de problemas psicológicos.
O governo finlandês fará uma reunião de crise esta semana após o ataque cibernético sem precedentes.
“Estamos investigando um ataque de segurança agravado e extorsão, entre outras acusações”, afirmou Robin Lardot, à frente da polícia judiciária, durante uma entrevista coletiva ocorrida no domingo.
O número de arquivos comprometidos seria de dezenas de milhares, segundo Lardot.

A Vastaamo anunciou na tarde desta segunda-feira (26) que demitiu seu CEO, Ville Tapio, após as conclusões de uma investigação interna que revelou que Tapio havia ocultado uma violação de dados da empresa no último ano.
O grupo reconheceu falhas na segurança dos dados de seus clientes, “o que permitiu que criminosos entrassem no banco de dados até março de 2019”, informou a Vastaamo em um comunicado.
Segundo especialistas em segurança, um arquivo de dados de 10 gigabytes com anotações particulares entre ao menos 2 mil pacientes e seus terapeutas circulou em páginas da chamada “dark web” (internet obscura).
Esse vazamento, que afetou pessoas vulneráveis na sociedade — inclusive crianças — causou grande comoção no país.
