O bacuri, fruto típico da Amazônia e do Cerrado, é muito apreciado nessas regiões, mas ainda pouco conhecido no restante do Brasil.
Mas, no Pará, uma família de origem japonesa vem contribuindo para uma maior valorização do fruto. No município de Augusto Corrêa, eles têm feito um cultivo sustentável do bacuri e gerado renda a partir da produção de doces, exportação e turismo rural.
“Meu pai acreditava que essa floresta de bacuri poderia mudar a vida das pessoas”, conta Hortência Osaqui, filha de Henrique Osaqui, que assumiu a propriedade durante a década de 1970.
Como bom economista, ele começou a pensar em como ganhar dinheiro com o fruto do bacuri, sem desmatar a floresta. Ele dizia que era preciso “verticalizar a cadeia produtiva”, ou seja, encontrar novas formas de gerar renda com o fruto.
Hortência seguiu os ensinamentos do pai e, hoje, vem implementando diversas atividades na fazenda. Há, por exemplo, uma agroindústria instalada dentro da propriedade, onde o bacuri é transformado em geleias.
A família tem exportado até para os Estados Unidos e Europa.
“Depois do açaí e do cupuaçu, que já conquistaram grande parte do mercado brasileiro – e até mesmo um segmento do mercado do exterior –, a próxima espécie que tem condições de ganhar novos mercados é o bacurizeiro”, destaca Urano de Carvalho, agrônomo da Embrapa.

Na fazenda, o turismo rural passou a ser uma importante alternativa de renda na entressafra do bacuri, que acontece entre maio e dezembro.
Hoje, essa atividade representa 45% dos ganhos da fazenda.
Os turistas participam da colheita e passam até por um “banho de floresta”.
“É uma terapia que os japoneses desenvolveram e hoje é uma política pública do Japão, onde diminui o nível de estresse quando você vai para uma floresta”, diz Hortência.
