Ao menos 31 pessoas morreram nas enchentes que atingem o norte da Turquia, informaram as autoridades do país nesta sexta-feira (13). A força da água destruiu casas, derrubou pontes e arrastou carros na região do Mar Negro.
Cerca de 1.700 pessoas precisaram deixar suas casas em áreas consideradas de risco. Mais de 300 vilas locais continuam sem energia elétrica e algumas estradas seguem intransitáveis por conta da água e de deslizamentos.

Alagamentos são comuns na região durante o verão do hemisfério norte, mas o ministro do Interior turco disse que essa foi a pior enchente já registrada. O presidente Recep Tayyip Erdogan visitou a região mais afetada.
“A tristeza de vocês é a de todos nós. O Estado está com vocês com todos os meios disponíveis”, disse Erdogan.

Enchentes e incêndios ao mesmo tempo
Ao mesmo tempo, o sul do país enfrenta uma seca e incêndios que já queimaram milhares de quilômetros quadrados de florestas.
Vários turistas e moradores foram evacuados das áreas afetadas. Na ilha grega de Eubeia, alguns monges foram retirados à força, após se negarem a abandonar seus mosteiros.
Na turística Gytheio, no sul do Peleponeso, 5.000 pessoas foram obrigadas a deixar suas casas e ir para uma cidade vizinha.
Lideranças políticas e associações pediram ao governo turco que tome medidas radicais para reduzir as emissões de gases causadores do efeito estufa, já que atribuem estes desastres à mudança climática.
A Turquia não ratificou o Acordo de Paris sobre o Clima de 2015, que estabeleceu metas a serem atingidas para se conter o aquecimento global.
