O Brasil começará a discutir sobre sua adesão à Organização dos Países Exportadores de Petróleo (Opep), durante uma visita à Arábia Saudita em julho, disse nesta quarta-feira (22) o ministro de Minas e Energia, Bento Albuquerque, durante viagem à Índia.
Porém, ele ressaltou que o país não espera se tornar membro do grupo ainda neste ano.
O presidente Jair Bolsonaro insinuou a ideia de uma adesão à Opep em outubro. A proposta, porém, não foi bem recebida pelo setor de petróleo, uma vez que produtores temem que nesse caso o Brasil – que se tornou exportador líquido no ano passado – tenha que aderir a cortes de produção acertados entre a Opep e outros produtores.

Após encontro com o ministro do Petróleo da Índia, Dharmendra Pradhan, Albuquerque disse que viajará à Arábia Saudita em meados deste ano e que, na ocasião, dará início às negociações.
“A Arábia Saudita está na presidência do G20. Eu estarei lá em julho, e então nós podemos começar a discutir”, disse o ministro, acrescentando que não espera que uma eventual adesão se concretize em 2020.
Questionado se o país estaria disposto a restringir sua produção em linha com termos da Opep, Albuquerque afirmou que trata-se de “uma questão de negociação” e que é preciso “começar discussões”.
Expectativas para a produção do Brasil
O ministro, que chegou a Nova Délhi antes da visita oficial do presidente Jair Bolsonaro, marcada para o final desta semana, disse que as exportações de petróleo do Brasil devem avançar para 1,4 milhão de barris por dia em 2020, ante 1,1 milhão de barris em 2019, enquanto a produção tende a crescer 13%, para 3,5 milhões.
Durante a visita de Bolsonaro, a Índia espera assinar acordos com o Brasil, incluindo um memorando de entendimento para cooperação no setor de petróleo e gás natural, afirmou o país asiático em comunicado nesta quarta-feira.
Segundo o ministro indiano de Petróleo, empresas do país expressaram interesse em obter mais petróleo do Brasil, desde que termos comerciais favoráveis sejam oferecidos.
Em 2019, as exportações de petróleo do Brasil para a Índia recuaram 23%, para cerca de 47 mil barris, de acordo com dados de agências marítimas obtidos por fontes da indústria.
