O índice Dow Jones subiu 0,55%, a 30.392 pontos, enquanto o S&P 500 ganhou 0,70%, a 3.727 pontos. O índice de tecnologia Nasdaq avançou 0,95%, a 12.819 pontos.
No geral, analistas esperam que o mercado acionário consolide em janeiro os ganhos de dezembro, à medida que gestores de ativos buscam reequilibrar suas carteiras, que estavam fortemente inclinadas para ações.
As últimas pesquisas do site de dados 538 deram uma ligeira vantagem aos dois adversários democratas, que precisam vencer as duas disputas pelo Senado dos EUA para que o partido tire dos republicanos o controle da Casa.
Estado da Geórgia tem 2º turno da eleição para senadores
Com uma estreita maioria na Câmara dos Deputados, uma “onda azul” do Congresso poderia facilitar um estímulo fiscal maior. Também poderia abrir caminho para que o presidente eleito, Joe Biden, promova mais regulamentação corporativa e impostos mais altos.
O índice de volatilidade da Cboe –uma medida do “medo” de Wall Street– caiu 6%, depois de saltar 18,5% na véspera, quando fechou no maior nível em dois meses.
