O governo boliviano começou a injetar mais de US$ 587 milhões no país nesta quarta-feira (2) em bônus destinados a mais de quatro milhões de pessoas com recursos limitados, uma medida de auxílio e para reativar a economia do país, atingido pela pandemia de Covid-19.
“Uma alternativa eficaz e eficiente deve ser ativada para reativar a economia boliviana”, disse o ministro da Economia, Marcelo Montenegro, em entrevista coletiva. O governo entregará um auxílio de 1.000 bolivianos, cerca de US$ 143,7 por pessoa, disse Montenegro.
O pagamento começou por meio dos sistemas bancários estadual e privado e vai até março do próximo ano para pessoas entre 18 e 60 anos que pertençam a grupos como gestantes, deficientes físicos, sem renda fixa e desempregados.
“Acreditamos que esses 4.088.413 beneficiários vão gerar uma demanda efetiva na economia”, disse o ministro.
O novo presidente boliviano, o esquerdista Luis Arce, herdeiro político do ex-presidente Evo Morales, descreveu, ao tomar posse no mês passado, como “patética” a situação econômica de seu país, cujo PIB caiu 11,1% no segundo trimestre de 2020, com um déficit fiscal para este ano de 12,1%.
Montenegro lembrou que durante o governo de direita de Jeanine Áñez, foram concedidos bônus de cerca de 500 bolivianos (71,8 dólares), em condições semelhantes às atuais, mas “parece que não tiveram eficácia e que seriam necessários bônus com a proporcionalidade adequada para que a economia pudesse se movimentar”.
A Bolívia começou a registrar em março os primeiros casos de Covid-19, que até agora deixou mais de 8.900 mortos e cerca de 144.800 infectados.
O governo também anunciou, no início de seu governo, que vai administrar a suspensão temporária do pagamento da dívida externa até que a situação econômica melhore, embora ainda não se saiba quando será o início das negociações com os credores.
