Satélites da Administração Nacional Oceânica e Atmosférica (NOAA), dos EUA, identificaram nesta segunda-feira (6) que a fumaça dos incêndios na Austrália cruzou o Oceano Pacífico e cobrem parte do Chile e da Argentina.

Entenda o que provoca os incêndios na Austrália
Duas colunas de fumaça foram registradas em deslocamento pelo satélite GOES, da agência norte-americana. Elas surgiram nos grandes incêndios que atingem o país da Oceania desde o fim do ano passado. Especialistas indicam que a contaminação deve chegar ao Rio Grande do Sul ainda nesta terça-feira (7).

De acordo com o instituto Climatempo, a chegada da coluna de fumaça não vai afetar o regime de chuvas ou a temperatura da região, mas poderá ser observado um céu mais avermelhado durante o pôr do sol.
Carregada pelo vento
Uma simulação feita pelo modelo atmosférico europeu (ECMWF) indicou a trajetória dos ventos varrendo a fumaça para a América do Sul. O Climatempo disse em nota que a fumaça é transportada pelos ventos quando alcançam altitudes acima dos 5km.
Para a agência, a fumaça continuará seu trajeto pelo fluxo de ar que corre de oeste para leste e não deve tocar o chão.
O meteorologista Fábio Luengo, da Somar Meteorologia, alertou para os riscos caso a fumaça encontre chuvas durante seu caminho. Elas podem arrastar o material particulado para lavouras, reservatórios de água e açudes, além de provocar uma chuva mais ácida.

A Austrália vive um dos piores incêndios florestais dos últimos anos, com focos que começaram em setembro do ano passado. O fenômeno é causado pela combinação de temperaturas superiores a 40 ºC, pouca chuva e fortes ventos.
As queimadas atingiram mais de 8 milhões de hectares de terras pelo país, uma área do tamanho da Irlanda. Foram destruídos milhares de prédios e cidades ficaram sem eletricidade e sinal de telefonia móvel.

O país vai destinar 2 bilhões de dólares australianos, cerca de R$ 5,6 bilhões, além das dezenas de milhões já prometidas, para a recuperação de áreas afetadas pelos incêndios, segundo o primeiro-ministro australiano.
