The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) held a high-level briefing this week at the Palácio Itamaraty in Brasília, welcoming members of the foreign diplomatic corps to discuss the realignment of international cooperation priorities. The meeting focused on how technical and financial partnerships can better support Brazil's current commitments to environmental sustainability, poverty reduction, and digital transformation.

Ambassadors and heads of missions from several continents attended the session, highlighting the strategic importance of the Brazilian capital as a hub for multilateral dialogue.

During the presentation, senior officials from the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) emphasized that the government seeks to strengthen South-South cooperation while maintaining robust ties with traditional partners in the Global North. The discussion also covered the preparation for upcoming international summits where Brazil will play a leading role, requiring a coordinated effort between the ministry and resident diplomatic missions. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to revitalize Brazil's presence in global decision-making forums.

Furthermore, the briefing addressed the streamlining of administrative processes for diplomatic visas and international agreements, aiming to facilitate the exchange of experts and researchers between nations. By improving these logistical frameworks, Itamaraty expects to accelerate the implementation of projects in areas such as renewable energy and family farming. The event concluded with a networking session where diplomats could discuss specific bilateral concerns directly with the regional department heads of the ministry.
