Embratur Strengthens International Tourism Through Sustainable Aviation Partnerships
The Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur) is leading a new strategic offensive to reposition Brazil as a top-tier sustainable destination in the global market. By establishing high-level dialogues with international airline consortiums and diplomatic missions in Brasília, the agency aims to increase the frequency of direct flights while ensuring that growth aligns with modern environmental standards. This initiative is part of a broader federal government effort to leverage the country's natural assets to attract high-spending international travelers.
During recent institutional meetings, Embratur representatives highlighted the importance of 'green corridors'—aviation routes that prioritize carbon offsetting and the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) where available. The strategy focuses on diversifying the entry points for tourists, moving beyond the traditional Rio-São Paulo axis to include regional hubs in the North and Northeast. This decentralization is expected to stimulate local economies that rely heavily on eco-tourism and cultural heritage.

Furthermore, the agency is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) to streamline visa processes and enhance the 'Brazil Brand' at major international tourism fairs. By participating in global forums, Embratur seeks to showcase the country's commitment to social inclusion through tourism, promoting indigenous-led travel experiences and community-based initiatives. The goal is to reach pre-pandemic levels of international arrivals by the end of the next fiscal cycle.
In addition to logistical improvements, Embratur is investing in data intelligence to better understand the profiles of modern travelers. By analyzing global search trends and booking patterns, the agency can tailor its marketing campaigns to specific markets such as Europe, North America, and emerging Asian economies. This data-driven approach ensures that public resources are allocated efficiently to maximize the return on investment for the Brazilian tourism sector.
