The Brazilian Tourism Board (Embratur) has officially launched a new strategic directive aimed at redefining the country's image abroad through the lens of sustainability and environmental responsibility. During a recent meeting with international stakeholders in Brasília, the agency outlined its plan to prioritize the promotion of biomes like the Amazon and the Pantanal, ensuring that tourism growth aligns with global climate goals. This initiative marks a shift in how Brazil competes for high-value travelers from the European and North American markets.

According to the agency's projections, the focus on 'green tourism' is expected to not only increase the number of visitors but also extend their length of stay and total expenditure within the country. By partnering with local communities and focusing on authenticity, Embratur aims to decentralize tourism, bringing economic benefits to regions that have historically been overlooked by traditional travel circuits. The agency is also working closely with the Ministry of Environment to ensure that all promoted destinations meet strict sustainability criteria.

Furthermore, the plan includes a robust digital transformation strategy to improve the data collection of foreign visitor profiles. This will allow for more targeted marketing campaigns that resonate with the values of modern travelers who seek ethical and low-impact experiences. Embratur's leadership emphasized that this movement is essential for maintaining Brazil's competitive edge in the post-pandemic global tourism landscape, where environmental consciousness has become a primary factor in destination selection.

In addition to the environmental focus, Embratur is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) to streamline visa processes and enhance air connectivity with strategic hubs. The goal is to facilitate smoother entry for tourists while maintaining security standards. The agency believes that by integrating cultural heritage with natural beauty, Brazil can offer a unique product that stands out in the crowded international market.
