Embratur Strengthens International Promotion of Brazilian Ecotourism Destinations
The Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur) has officially announced a new strategic framework aimed at positioning Brazil as a premier global destination for nature-based travel. The initiative focuses on showcasing the unique biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest, the Pantanal wetlands, and the Cerrado biome to high-spending travelers from Europe and North America. By highlighting certified sustainable accommodations and community-based tourism, the agency seeks to balance economic growth with environmental preservation.
According to the agency's latest projections, there is a significant opportunity to capture the growing 'green travel' market. The campaign will utilize digital intelligence to target specific demographics interested in birdwatching, trekking, and river cruises. Embratur's leadership emphasizes that the goal is not merely to increase the number of tourists, but to improve the quality of the tourism experience and ensure that revenue directly benefits local traditional communities and indigenous populations.

Partnerships with international airlines are also being negotiated to expand direct flight routes to regional hubs in Northern and Midwestern Brazil. This logistical expansion is seen as a crucial step in making these remote natural wonders more accessible to global markets. The agency plans to participate in major international tourism fairs, such as ITB Berlin and WTM London, to present these new itineraries to global tour operators and travel agencies.
Furthermore, the strategy includes a robust training program for Brazilian hospitality providers to meet international standards of sustainability and service. Embratur is working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment to ensure that the promotion aligns with national conservation goals. The initiative is expected to generate a substantial increase in foreign exchange earnings and create thousands of jobs in the sustainable hospitality sector over the next fiscal year.
