A Austrália reabre nesta segunda-feira (21) suas fronteiras para turistas vacinados pela primeira vez desde o início da pandemia. Durante esses quase dois anos de restrições, o país implementou um dos controles mais rígidos do mundo de circulação de pessoas.
Em dezembro, a Austrália já havia flexibilizado, ao permitir o ingresso de estudantes internacionais e trabalhadores qualificados, com vistos específicos.

“A espera acabou”, disse o primeiro-ministro Scott Morrison em entrevista coletiva nos domingo (20). “Arrumem suas malas. “Não se esqueçam de trazer dinheiro, porque vocês encontrarão muitos lugares para gastá-lo”.
Regras de entrada
Para entrar no país a partir desta segunda, o governo australiano exigirá que os turistas estejam totalmente vacinados. Sobre isso, a Austrália entende que o viajante deve:
Ter tomado duas doses de uma das seguintes vacinas:
AstraZeneca;
Pfizer;
Moderna;
Coronavac;
Covaxin;
Sinopharm – para pessoas com menos de 60 anos que chegam à Austrália;
Sputnik V;
Novavax.
Ou uma dose de:
Janssen – Johnson & Johnson.
O governo australiano afirma também que, para ser considerado totalmente imunizado, a pessoa deve ter tomado a última dose da vacina pelo menos 7 dias antes de entrar no país.
“Se você não foi vacinado com as doses ou cronograma acima, você não atende à definição da Austrália de totalmente vacinado para fins de viagem internacional”, afirma o Departamento de Assuntos Internos da Austrália, em seu site.
Expectativa
A Austrália espera que 56 voos internacionais cheguem ao país dentro das primeiras 24 horas após a reabertura, um volume bem abaixo dos níveis pré-pandemia. Por outro lado, o primeiro-ministro afirmou que “não tem dúvidas” de que esse número aumentará em breve.
O primeiro voo estava previsto para chegar ao aeroporto de Sydney às 06h (horário local) de segunda-feira, seguido por outros de Tóquio, Vancouver e Cingapura.
A Austrália fechou suas fronteiras para quase todos, exceto seus cidadãos e estrangeiros residentes, desde março de 2020, na tentativa de impedir o aumento do número de infecções por covid-19. A proibição também afetou os cidadãos do país, que só podiam viajar para o exterior com alguma justificativa.
De acordo com a Câmara Australiana de Comércio e Indústria, cada mês dessas restrições custa às empresas cerca de 3,6 bilhões de dólares australianos (US$ 2,6 bilhões), afetando, principalmente, o turismo.
