Uma onça-parda adulta foi encontrada morta na manhã deste sábado (1º) às margens do Anel Viário, no Residencial Sant’Anna, em Rancharia (SP).
A espécie é considerada vulnerável e ameaçada de extinção.
Segundo o Corpo de Bombeiros e a Polícia Militar Ambiental, o animal macho apresentava uma marca de tiro de arma de fogo no corpo (veja vídeo abaixo).

O Corpo de Bombeiros foi acionado por volta das 10h por pessoas que faziam caminhada no local e viram o animal caído no chão.
Quando chegaram ao local, os bombeiros se depararam com o felino já morto.
A Polícia Militar Ambiental foi acionada e deu início a ações de patrulhamento nas proximidades com o objetivo de levantar possíveis informações sobre o disparo de arma de fogo que vitimou a onça-parda.
Segundo a polícia, a suspeita é de que o felino possa ter sido baleado em alguma propriedade rural nas proximidades e perambulado já ferido até a zona urbana, onde foi encontrado morto.
A Prefeitura também foi comunicada sobre a ocorrência.
O corpo do animal foi recolhido e enterrado.

Também conhecida como suçuarana, puma, onça-vermelha e leão-baio, a onça-parda (Puma concolor) é a segunda maior espécie de felino do Brasil, só ficando atrás da onça-pintada (Panthera onca). Tem corpo alongado, com até 1,08 metro de comprimento. A cauda longa mede até 61 centímetros e a altura é de 63 centímetros.
O macho adulto pode pesar por volta de 70 quilos. A pelagem da suçuarana tem coloração uniforme, variando entre marrom-acinzentado bem claro e marrom-avermelhado escuro. Geralmente os animais que vivem em florestas são menores e mais escuros e os que habitam regiões montanhosas são maiores e mais claros.
Possuem hábitos noturnos (predominantemente) e diurnos, caçam a qualquer hora do dia com certa tendência ao horário de crepúsculo.
Embora seja uma espécie terrestre, possui muita habilidade para subir em árvores e é muito ágil. A suçuarana vive solitária, menos na época de acasalamento.
Pesquisas comprovaram que a suçuarana é o predador mais eficiente e mais flexível entre os felinos. Ela consegue alimento em 75% das vezes em que parte para o ataque.

A alimentação inclui desde pequenos roedores até mamíferos de grande porte (capivaras, veados e catetos), aves e répteis.
O período de gestação varia entre 84 e 98 dias, e nascem de um a seis filhotes, com 220 a 440 gramas.
A espécie é considerada vulnerável e ameaçada de extinção.
