Ameaçado de extinção, lobo-guará é resgatado com fraturas expostas nas patas após sofrer atropelamento na Rodovia Raposo Tavares

Um lobo-guará foi resgatado depois de ser atropelado na Rodovia Raposo Tavares (SP-270), em Presidente Epitácio (SP). O animal, de uma espécie ameaçada de extinção, foi encontrado nesta segunda-feira (22) e a Polícia Ambiental foi acionada para fazer a transferência do macho para o Centro de Triagem de Animais Silvestres (Cetas), em Presidente Prudente (SP).
De acordo com a polícia, o lobo-guará foi resgatado pela Concessionária Auto Raposo Tavares (Cart), que administra a rodovia. O Cetas fica no Parque Ecológico da Cidade da Criança e a médica veterinária do local, Érica Pellosi, informou que o macho de cerca de um ano de idade estava com duas fraturas expostas nas patas.
“O animal passará por tratamento e, quando estiver apto, será reintroduzido em seu habitat natural”, informou a Polícia Ambiental.

O animal
O lobo-guará tem o nome científico de Chrysocyon brachyurus e é uma espécie da família Canidae. O animal é o maior canídeo da América do Sul. Um adulto chega a medir 1,30 metro de corpo, além de 40 centímetros de cauda, podendo atingir um metro de altura e mais de 20 quilos. É da família dos canídeos e pertence a um gênero composto por uma única espécie.
Apesar do porte e da aparência, é um animal inofensivo ao homem, de comportamento dócil, e raramente há briga entre eles. Ele vive em campos abertos, no caso do Brasil no Cerrado, nos Campos Sulinos, na Caatinga e na borda do Pantanal. Também pode ser encontrado na Argentina, no Paraguai, na Bolívia e numa pequena parte dos territórios do Uruguai e do Peru.
O lobo-guará está ameaçado de extinção.
