O grupo ativista climático Extinction Rebellion (XR) organizou uma série de ações para denunciar a poluição e o aquecimento global durante o Salão do Automóvel em Bruxelas neste sábado (18).

Cerca de 150 pessoas foram detidas após uma ação em que os ativistas se deitaram no chão para bloquear a passagem no salão, informou a polícia belga.
O grupo pacifista, que faz ações para alertar sobre o aquecimento global, convocou seus seguidores pela internet a participarem de uma atividade neste sábado no que chamou de “Salão das Mentiras”.
O objetivo era bloquear a exposição de lançamentos automobilísticos e de difundir mensagens sobre o papel da indústria do automóvel no colapso climático, informou o grupo em um comunicado publicado nas redes sociais.

Na entrada principal do salão, o grupo instalou um cartaz pedindo o fim das ” emissões de CO2″. De acordo com as instruções do movimento, os ativistas dispersaram as ações realizadas por pequenos grupos em vários pontos diferentes da feira. Alguns ativistas acorrentaram-se ao volante de carros em exposição, outros veículos foram etiquetados ou pulverizados com cor de sangue.
No estande da gigante petrolífera Shell, um ativista com o torso nu pintado com tinta cor de sangue expunha sobre o corpo a inscrição “Shell mata”, enquanto outros ativistas mascarados distribuíam panfletos aos visitantes.
“Nós o chamamos de ‘Salão das Mentiras’ porque não acreditamos mais na indústria automotiva para fornecer soluções para esta crise ecológica e climática. Ela já mentiu no passado, continua a mentir e continuará mentindo para nós”, disse uma das porta-vozes da XR identificada como Sarah.
Apesar do sucesso das ações, a polícia conseguiu deter alguns dos organizadores do protesto antes mesmo de entrarem ao salão. Segundo os policiais no local, os manifestantes detidos seriam identificados e depois liberados.
